We stock four sustainable materials available for custom orders. Each material has its own unique beginning and end of life story which separates these films from traditional virgin poly materials. Each promotes a more circular flow of materials.
Compostable Material: The 2 mil clear material is 100% certified under the ASTM D6400 standard. This material follows an organic waste stream to industrial composting facilities at the end of life as opposed to a recycling path to recovery. For more information see Compostable Material
Post Industrial Recycled Content (PIR): This 2 mil, clear material is produced from scrap taken from film extruders and re-purposed back into usable film. This process reuses excess material from other runs of film to produce new film. Utilizing recycled materials helps reduce carbon emissions by reducing the amount of new energy needed to produce new virgin materials. Post Consumer Recycled Content(PCR): This 2.25 mil, white material is produced from plastic sourced from consumer waste streams. Products such as plastic milk jugs are re-purposed to make usable poly films. PCR films can help reduce carbon emissions like PIR material, while also increasing the likelihood materials will be recovered for use and avoid the landfill or enter the environment as litter. Recycled content films can be recycled again at the end of their life cycles much like virgin films. Bio based Green PE: This 2 mil, clear film is sourced from a renewable resource. The poly film is partially sourced from sugarcane rather than all from fossil fuels. Plant-based Green PE can help reduce carbon emissions. Biobased plastics are recycled at end-of-life just like virgin materials. This biobased film is not compostable.
